SUMMARY:Tree giveaway, Arbor Day observance
DESCRIPTION:Citizens are invited to a tree giveaway on April 12 at Met
 ro-Kiwanis Park, 817 Guaranda Drive. From 9 a.m. until noon, 3,300 tre
e seedlings will be handed out on a first-come, first-served basis. Th
e free trees are part of a campaign to plant 10,000 trees in Johnson C
ity with many varieties offered.  A limited number of seedlings will
be available per person.\nThe program began in Spring 2010 and with th
e conclusion of this giveaway, the City will have distributed 14,400 t
rees. The program has been such a success that City Manager Pete Peter
son has decided not to stop at the original goal of 10,000 but to cont
inue the program into the future. This is the 14th consecutive year t
hat Johnson City has been named a Tree City USA by the National Arbor
Day Foundation.\n\n\n\n\n\nFor more information visit https://treestre
